The Public Policy Council consists of senior level professionals involved in government affairs on a state or federal level, individuals with lobbying or advocacy experience, and former elected and appointed government officials. The Council advises The Business Council staff on the political aspects of issues facing the association and assists in the development of a strategic political implementation plan. The Council acts as a resource for business involvement in issue development and in communicating and advocacy efforts.
The Public Policy Council assists in the development of The Business Council's Legislative Agenda, helps organize meetings of the membership with Legislators and administrative officials, and offers advice on The Business Council's political contributions and fundraising activities.
Public Policy areas of focus have included education, energy, health care, transportation, tribal casinos, and workforce development.
