DEMOCRACY WORKS! |

|
In 2010, Fairfield County voters will be casting their ballots for Governor, U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative, and a variety of state and local offices. Use our Election Resources to get registered, find the candidates and find your polling place. Democracy Works, if . . .
In
a democracy, government is what we, the people, make it.
If we choose not to participate, government is what somebody else makes
it. Business
leaders cannot afford to delegate (or abdicate) responsibility for making
public policy decisions. If we seek prudent fiscal policies, appropriate
infrastructure investment, a skilled workforce, affordable health insurance
for our employees, and safe communities – just to name a few potential
objectives – we need to say so. And,
we need to say it publicly and personally. The
Business Council of Fairfield County has been an active participant
in Connecticut public policy debates since its founding in 1970. It has made
an ongoing effort to engage member firms in its advocacy work and, more
broadly, to encourage individuals within those firms to be active citizens. DEMOCRACY
WORKS!, a public service initiative of The Business Council, is
intended to provide the information and encouragement needed to make
participation more feasible and effective. |
