The Walter H. Wheeler, Jr. Leadership Award Dinner
The
Walter H. Wheeler, Jr. Leadership Award, named after the visionary Pitney
Bowes leader, celebrates corporate leadership in our community.
Through the award, The Business Council demonstrates its commitment to
volunteer leadership and offers a role model for all businesspeople to
emulate.
For more than 30 years, the award has celebrated a member of the Fairfield County business community, commemorating the outstanding accomplishments of Walter H. Wheeler, Jr., who, prior to his death in 1974, was one of the Stamford area’s best known citizens, and honorary chairman and director emeritus of Pitney Bowes Inc.
This year we are pleased to honor Richard E. Taber, Chairman of the Board & CEO, First County Bank.
Mr. Taber is a respected community leader who has contributed his time and leadership to a variety of area non-profits including the Housing Development Fund, Stamford Partnership, the United Way, the Downtown Special Services District, and The Business Council. He has actively engaged his colleagues in community service opportunities, worked tirelessly for access to affordable housing, and has been deeply supportive, through personal leadership and the Bank's community investments, in expanding educational opportunities for all children.
